Mtskheta and Uplistsikhe
Mtskheta city was founded in the 5th century BC and is has a status of not only the cradle of ancient architecture, but also the source of the spiritual roots of our country. We will have an exciting walk through the small cobbled streets where is a various choice of spices, churchkhela, dried figs and much more. Then we will visit one of the most ancient temples of Svetitskhoveli. The most important relics of the spiritual world - the Holy Robe of Jesus Christ is located here. Ancient frescoes hide many mysterious symbols and signs.
After that we will go upwards to Jvary Monastery from where we can see a beautiful view of the city and the junction of the Kura and Aragvi rivers. Under the sound of the wind we will enter the Jvari temple and touch its silent but warm walls.
Then we will go to the cave city Uplistsikhe. It was built at the end of the 2nd century BC. There is a system of caves and tunnels. There are also several halls that were used in the royal era for ritual ceremonies. We will see many interesting artifacts, visit the place where Queen Tamara was crowned, admire the beautiful views and find out why Georgian winemaking is considered the oldest in the world.
On the way back we will stop at the most popular restaurant "Salobie" and taste wonderful national dishes and the famous lobio (beans) in pot.
Peaceful and calm we will return to Tbilisi to continue to explore Georgia and enjoy every minute of our stay in this country.
