Program:

Famous wineries and cellars of Georgia

  • The most popular and famous places for wine testing in Georgia are Kakheti, Kartli, Imereti, Racha-Lechkhumi, Kvemo-Svaneti. Georgian wine was valuable and in high demand in all former Soviet republics. Nowadays wine in Georgia is produced by thousands of small private wineries that mainly use the same traditional Georgian method of winemaking - in kvevri (clay jars). There are also some modern large-scale wineries.

  • The program of our tours includes visits to the carefully selected wine cellars and wineries where you can taste the most vivid varieties of Georgian wines, the famous Georgian chacha and the famous cognac. Below is a list of places that includes both large-scale production and small private wineries.

  • Winery "Khareba"

  • Address: r. Meurneoba, Kvareli

The Khareba winery is well known in Kvareli (Kakheti region).

They use Gvirabi (tunnel) for aging wine. The all year-round temperature there ranges from 12 to 14 degrees, and the humidity reaches 70%, which is the ideal natural conditions for wine that is stored in oak barrels, as well as for already bottled wine. The total length of felled tunnels is more than 7 kilometers.

Built in the form of a castle this winery is considered the first real royal chateau in Georgia, which combines four main components: vineyards, winery, castle and history. Winemaking in Mukhrani (Kartli region) was founded by the famous representative of the Georgian royal family, political and public figure Ivan Mukhranbatoni in the 19th century.

  • Winery "Kakheti traditional winemaking" ("KTW")

  • Address: village Mukhrani, Mtskheta

The KTW plant has its own history since the end of the XIX century. They have their own unique tradition of Kakhetian winemaking. This tradition is closely connected with the name of Antimose Chkhaidze, an outstanding Georgian wine-maker, who owned a cellar in the town of Askan in Guria. His legacy is is gently kept and used in the modern production of the company "Kakheti traditional winemaking" that gives to the market extraordinary wines, Georgian chacha and brandy.

  • Wine Cellar of Pruidze family

  • Address: Kvemo Kartli. Bolnisi

A small and cozy family wine cellar is an ideal place for those who prefer homemade Georgian wine and chacha. The cellar was built during the times of the German-Schwabs. It is located at a depth of 5.5 meters under the ground where the temperature is

+12°C all year round, that gives to the proper production and storage of the wine. We will taste 3 types of homemade wine (2 white, 1 red) and chacha 45/50%. Our testing will smoothly turn into a real Georgian family lunch or dinner with traditional dishes and shashlik on coals from the vine!
